Rapid Weight Loss Tips - Here You Find the Best Rapid Weight Loss Tips

Do you browse through the internet every day and hope to find this magic tip that will make you drop 20 pounds? Yes? Well I have done it too, but I'm pretty sure this does not exist. I have bought and bought useless stuff until I figured out a few basic things I needed to do to lose weight.

Drink water

It is very important to constantly be drinking water. Why? Well, I think, or at least to me, the most important reason is that it kills your appetite. You know the cravings you have between lunch and dinner? The cravings right before you can go home from work? I had those cravings, and I only wanted chocolate then. Well by drinking water, you reduce these cravings and you'll see the effects in a very short time. I stopped eating 20 chocolate bars a week. And it saves you quite some money too.

Do some sports.

Now OK, you probably knew this. By doing sports you lose weight and gain muscle DUH. But I am not talking of going to the gym, because thats way to much trouble. I'm talking about some simple things you can do. Take the stairs 3 times a week instead of the elevator. Every now and then walk around the office, and if you're drinking a lot of water, walk to the furthest bathroom every time. If you are really up for it, plan 1 day in the week where you walk to work. (I never did this seeing my work was 45 mins away by car)

Spread your meals

This one is my favourite. It is actually good to eat alot!!! Now that's nice no? Well it is not completely true, but I found out it is better if you eat 5 small meals a day than if you eat 2 large ones. The exact scientific reasons for this I don't really know, but I figured it should mean something with metabolism and such.

The hardest thing I found out while losing weight, is that I had to change my lifestyle. Its not a matter of dropping those pounds and then move on and go back to normal. It is my whole lifestyle that had to change. Now this was hard at first, but I got used to it and enjoy it now.

Have you decided that you are ready to change your lifestyle. Then don't wait any longer. Here are some programs that may help

Discover What Tap Water Contains and What to Do About It

What does tap water contain and what can you do about it? Well, you could protest and try to get your local or federal government to change their treatment practices. You could picket in front of industries that dump chemicals into our environment.

You could march in front of pharmaceutical companies, to let them know that dumping prescription drugs into public sewers is unacceptable. You could petition your local wastewater treatment facility, asking them to install better systems to remove more of these hazardous contaminants, before they dump the waters back into our rivers and oceans.

But, none of these actions will help your family, immediately.

So, what does tap water contain, anyway?

It contains 2400 different toxic chemicals, many of which are known to cause cancer. It contains chlorine or other chemical disinfectants added by your local treatment facility. It contains cancer-causing byproducts released by those same disinfection processes that protect us from most waterborne illnesses.

It may carry lead particles and other metallic traces into your glass. And, finally, parasitic cysts may be present at any time, because they are resistant to chemical, UV and ozone disinfection methods.

So, now, that we have answered the question; what does tap water contain, we can tell you what you can do about it to protect your family, right now. Install a point of use or home filtration device. But, shop carefully; there are vast differences in quality and price.

Inexpensive systems do not provide effective contaminant removal. Expensive reverse osmosis is unnecessary. You want to look at the products in the "middle of the road", so to speak. The price that you pay should depend on the amount of protection that you want.

For example, if you want to filter everything that comes into your house, you can do it for about a thousand dollars. You can get a system for just your kitchen faucet, but you should also be aware that showering in chlorinated water is unhealthy and carcinogens can penetrate the skin. The ones that become gaseous can also be inhaled.

If you want to spend as little as possible, you can often get a package deal when you buy direct. For about $150, you can filter what you drink and shower in, reducing hazardous compounds to the point of non-existence.

To be specific, if you are worried about; what does tap water contain, you need to look for a system that includes several steps. A carbon and multi media block with a change will remove the tiniest traces of lead, a heavy metal that causes brain damage, learning submicron porous structure will remove cysts, chemicals, chlorine and its byproducts. Ion exdisabilities and chronic health problems, like high blood pressure.

Ion exchange also improves the mineral content and the pH level. This insures that you will enjoy the taste more and drink more healthy water. Hopefully, this has answered your questions about what does tap water contain and you know what to do about it. If not, keep studying, you'll figure it out.

2 Reasons Why Your Drinking Water Treatment Systems Isn't Safe - What to Do About It

Over the last decade, scientists have documented widespread pharmaceutical contamination in drinking water treatment systems.

Listen to this one from US Today: "Each day, millions of Americans turn on their taps and get water that exceeds the legal limits for dangerous contaminants."

We send our children off to school everyday and for the most part assume that they are safe. However, the source of the water that supplies the drinking fountain in the school comes from taxed & under-funded municipal water treatment facility. Here are two reasons why you need a good water treatment purification system to keep you and your family safe.

The first reason is that our public water treatment plants are not actually designed to remove drugs and other synthetic chemicals that is present in our tap water. Researchers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Geological Survey have found birth control drugs, caffeine and even anti-depressants in many water samples taken from treatment systems across the U.S. Pharmaceuticals in the water pose an immediate health risk to all people, especially people with compromised immune systems. Birth control drugs, even in minute doses, have been shown to affect our hormone levels. The recent link in the media between anti-depressants and suicide concerns me as well. Imagine the effect of these pharmaceuticals on developing children and the elderly.

Another reason that the average drinking water purification system isn't very effective is that the chlorine used to kill bacteria and other microorganisms may also be hurting you.

The addition of chlorine to our water began in the 1800s and by 1904 was the standard in water treatment.

Chlorine wasn't used because it was the best or safest at disinfection, it is used because it is the cheapest. Despite all the stunning scientific and medical breakthroughs since the early 1900s, we are still pretty much bleaching our water supply. The level of chlorine in our drinking water purification systems might surprise you. It is not uncommon to find more chlorine in your regular tap water than is recommended for the regular swimming pool. None other than the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality stated that: "Cancer risk among people using chlorinated water is as much as 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine."

After seeing the case I've laid out against municipal drinking water treatment systems, you can come to your own conclusions on whether drinking from the tap is a viable choice. Personally, I've added a carbon block filtration system to my faucet that does a great job in filtering out chlorine, pharmaceuticals and other unwanted contaminants. There are a couple of brands available in the market. One even has even been voted "Best Buy" by Consumers Digest magazine 5 years straight. It's too bad that our drinking water purification systems can't do a complete job in cleaning our water but it's nice to know that we have options available.

Contaminated Tap Water - Challenges to Our Health

The problems that stem from having contaminated tap water are something that we all must face. The challenges to our health that these impurities cause us are a reality that we simply cannot ignore any longer. It is time to finally see that our drinking water system is in a state of crisis.

This crisis did not happen overnight, but has built gradually over the last century. There was a time when we won a victory over the waterborne diseases that were taking so many of our lives, but this time the enemy that we face is different. We also must face that it is an enemy of our own making.

It has been our reckless disregard for nature that sent this whole problem into motion. We have mishandled, poorly stored, and senselessly disposed of the chemicals that we created to help us to make life easier for ourselves that has led to us having to deal with severely contaminated tap water.

Now we somehow have to figure out a way to clean up this mess that we have made, if for nothing else for the wildlife that depend on these tainted water sources in order to survive. Our blatant arrogance has threatened the very existence of life on this planet; at least as we now know it.

It amazes me sometimes to think of the degree of the damage that we've done in such a short period of time, just a little over a hundred years. Now many of us are feeling the brunt of our misdeeds in the damage that we have done to our own health through drinking contaminated tap water.

What can we do to fix this crisis that we are in? The damage that we have done to our environment and the resources that are precious to us has become a global issue, and it is going to take a global community in order to set things straight again. Until this is done, our resources are limited.

Waiting for a solution to the problem of contaminated drinking water to come from the municipal level could take a considerable amount of time. There doesn't seem to be enough money in the coffers to give the water treatment facilities the kind of major overhauls that they have long needed.

That leaves us as having to take responsibility for the health of ourselves and our families, but where do we begin? The first thing that I would advise everyone to do is to purchase either a point of use home water purification system, or a whole house model. This way at least, you can guarantee the purity of the water in your own home.

There are a lot of things that we need to work on if we are going to finally free ourselves from the problems that contaminated tap water brings to the table. The first thing that we need to make sure of is that we have all angles covered at home. That is where the most important people are.

The Best Place to Find the Purest Drinking Water

Pure radiant skin, Healthy complexion...These are some of the benefits of using clean drinking water.

We all know what using the purest drinking water can do for our bodies but the problem is on finding a good source.

If you think that drinking tap water is fine, then you probably haven't read the recent USA Today Special Report article titled "How Safe is Your Water" stating: "Each day, millions of Americans turn on their taps and get water that exceeds the legal limits for dangerous contaminants." What concerns me the most about the harmful tap water is that we have developing children with weak immune systems that will be more vulnerable than adults.

Drinking bottled water isn't much of a viable alternative as well. The sad truth is that most bottled water comes straight from the tap. The regulation standard for bottled water isn't even as high as your regular tap water. In addition to not being safer than tap water, land pollution due to plastic bottled water is also becoming a concern.

Thus, the basic sources of clean drinking water for most Americans have some problems that won't be solved in a short time frame. Now the only solution is to filter our water ourselves. Your own filtered faucet can be the top place to find clean drinking water.

There are a couple of different purifiers, filters in the market, each with its own method for filtering water. These include distillers, reverse osmosis filters and carbon block filters. Determining the best system can be simply done by comparing the product's performance to other alternatives. The performance of a particular water filtration system can be easily verified by reviewing its Performance Data Sheet, which lists all the contaminants it is certified to remove and to what degree.

By comparing each products contaminant reduction capabilities & cost, it is easy to determine which system is right for you.

I have taken the liberty of describing some of these system's good points and shortfalls.

Distillation systems remove contaminants by using a steam condensation technique which involves heating water, filtering out contaminants and then cooling the water back into the liquid form. The only problem with this technique is that it also strips the natural minerals in natural water that our body needs to maintain homeostasis. In fact there is also research suggesting long term consumption of demineralized water can lead to long term health problems.

Reverse osmosis, by use of a membrane, selectively removes contaminants only if their molecular size is larger than water's. However, many bacteria and other harmful organisms are even smaller than the size of water. These organisms can get through with such regularity it defeats the purpose of filtering your water.

The best filter to get the purest drinking water by far is the carbon block filter. These work by chemically or physically bonding the contaminant to the surface of the filter used. Activated carbon is recognized by the U.S. EPA as the best available technology for filtering bio organisms and volatile chemicals.

If you want better health and better skin, it's not too late to consider carbon block filters to clean your water to get the refreshing taste of clean drinking water.

Personal Air Purifiers and Reasons to Own One

Personal air purifiers are something that every person should consider having in their homes. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) tells us that the air inside our homes is up to five times more polluted than the air outside. Indoor air contains pollutants such as bacteria, allergens, mold spores, pet dander, and much more. And you are breathing all of this stuff into your body right along with the 3,400 gallons of air that you breathe every single day.

Indoor air is not healthy air for anybody, but it is even less healthy for somebody with allergies or respiratory illnesses, and it is important to keep the air in our homes clean. Clean indoor air can also help to prevent some respiratory illnesses by keeping out much of the bacteria that we breathe into our lungs. The American Lung Association has set forth clean house guidelines that pertain to the air that we breathe inside our homes.

Air cleaners can eliminate almost 100% of the pollutants and particles in the air inside our homes, depending on what kind of air purifier you get and where it is placed. There are a few different types of purifiers to choose from. You can choose one with a carbon or HEPA filter, one with ionic technology, or one with ultraviolet light and ozone production.

Filtered purifiers are great options, particularly if the filters are carbon and/or HEPA. Some come with both types of filters to clean even more of the air in the best ways that are known. These are a bit more expensive, but the clean air benefits may be worth the extra money. You will have to change the filters regularly or the unit won’t perform optimally. Make sure to find a unit that lets you know that the filter needs changed for the best performance and to keep you from wasting money by changing the filter too often.

Fresh air outside is made fresh by the production of negative ions, which is what an ionic air purifier does inside your home. Yes, they have filters, too, but they are permanent filters that can just be wiped clean and reinserted into the machine. These personal air purifiers might be more expensive than a filtered machine, but you save the cost of replacing the filters.

Many air purifiers have filters or ionic technology along with UV light technology. The ultraviolet light does two things. It releases a small amount of ozone to clean the air and it deodorizes the air by killing the odor causing bacteria that linger around after you cook or smoke or bring the dogs in from the rain.

Personal air purifiers can range in price from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars. Even if you can’t afford the top of the line purifiers, it is a good idea to have something cleaning the air in your home, for your comfort and your health. Can you afford not to?

Symptoms and Treatments of Rotator Cuff Syndrome

Extensive use of body parts may put them in danger after years of use. People using the shoulders frequently face the risk of experiencing shoulder pain or a condition referred to as rotator cuff syndrome. The shoulder pain becomes so acute that the patient becomes unable to move his shoulder or arms beyond a certain point.

Freestyle swimming, basketball, javelin throwing, shot-put throwing, weight lifting, and tennis can cause rotator cuff syndrome in athletes and sports persons. People involved in certain occupations are also prone to this condition. These vocations include but are not limited to: tree pruning, fruit picking, nursing, grocery clerking, longshoring, and warehousing.

Four muscles namely: supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis surround the shoulder. Any of the four muscles that form the shoulder could be involved in a rotator cuff syndrome. Most tears are associated with the supraspinatus muscle. It's not the muscle but the muscle tendon that experiences a tear leading to rotator cuff syndrome. The condition may start with a small tear. Minor pain may be present in the patient for years in such cases. There may also appear a sudden big tear in the shoulder tendons due to a spurt in shoulder activity.

People suffering from rotator cuff syndrome are mostly advised non-operative treatment. Applying of pain relief creams to the affected area, ice packs, taking pain relieving anti inflammatory pills or injections, adequate rest, and desisting from shoulder related activities are advised to patients.

Rotator cuff rehab programs include mild physical therapy involving the shoulder. Steroids are given in certain cases to relive pain too. In extreme cases surgery is performed to cure rotator cuff syndrome. A magnetic resonance imagery or MRI scan determines whether or not surgery is required for treating the condition.

The Digestion Wars - Probiotics VS Indigestion, Constipation and Heartburn

Louis Pasteur was the Mick Jaeger of nineteenth century science.

And rightly so. But rock star that he was, he made the word bacteria synonymous with disease, a misimpression that is still with us today.

Make no mistake, there definitely are bad bacteria. But in a healthy body, there are also trillions of good bacteria (yes, that's a T) that provide many of the critical elements to good health and vitality. These microscopic mighty microbes are called probiotics (for life), and without them or without enough of them, the bad guys take over and life can get down-right miserable.

While Pasteur's discovery of the germ theory of disease received great notoriety and acclaim, the discovery of the healthy side of the force has taken a great deal more time to permeate the public consciousness.

Oh, the years of needless heartburn.

Maybe it was because the discoverer of the life enhancing benefits of probiotics, a microbiologist and 1908 Nobel Prize Winner named Ellie Metchnikoff, was a Russian - not popular PR celebrities even then.

But, whatever the reason, Metchnikoff, curious as to what made some people live longer than others, studied the astonishing number of individuals in Bulgaria that were living to be over 100 years old. He traced the secret of their longevity to the probiotics that were contained in the fermented yogurt they ate.

Ellie, we love you, Man.

How, you might ask, could a bunch of bugs, microscopic bugs at that, help people live longer?

Let us count the ways:

Probiotics - beneficial microbes - break food down into its most basic elements allowing nutrients to absorb through the digestive system:

They strengthen the immune system, which enables the body to better fight disease;

They help relieve constipation;

They reduce the chance of infection from common pathogens (bad bugs);

They increase the bio-availabity of nutrients (which means they help the nutrients get into the cells with greater ease where they generate the physical energy of life);

They promote recovery from diarrhea;

They clean the intestines;

They help kill viruses and parasites;

They help prevent yeast and fungal infections;

They improve the digestion of vitamins;

They inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria;

They help make certain B vitamins.

Not bad for a bunch of bugs the size of a micron (there are one million microns in a meter - or, side by side, about 25,000 bacteria in an inch - we're talkin' very, very, small).

Your intestines should have about 85% good bacteria and 15% bad. But chlorinated water, the presence of antibiotics in the food we eat and as medical treatments we take, and other factors can wreck havoc in the gastrointestinal track, throwing your digestive system completely out of balance.

On days like that you'd rather be burned at the stake.

As noted, yogurt can be a good source of probiotics. But some years ago a revolutionary discovery was made using a unique combination of probiotics - a team of beneficial bacteria so coordinated, so in harmony, so dedicated to enhancing life that Vince Lombardi would have kissed their feet (if they'd had any.)

Pasteur, who discovered the effects of bad bacteria, was French. Metchnikoff, who discovered the benefits of good bacteria, was Russian. But it fell to a little known Japanese scientist named Teruo Higa to discover this combination of beneficial microorganisms that operate in a revolutionary relationship with each other and in so doing make human bodies hum like Lance Armstrong at the Tour De France.

Which means?

Stay with me here because this gets good.

The most extraordinary microbe in this serendipitous gathering of bacteria from the Far Side - the leader of the pack, so to speak- is the phototropic microbe. Fascinating creature, this bug has been here since before there was oxygen on the planet. In fact, it is anaerobic (hates oxygen).

How, you might wonder, does a living organism survive without oxygen?

In a simple act of adaptive Darwinian brilliance, it consumed what was in the environment: epicurean delights like carbon dioxide, ammonia, methane and hydrogen sulfide. And still does.

And in case the light-bulb didn't go on as you read that, take note that these are all modern-day toxins. In other words, we have here a microbe that thrives on poisons and pollutants.

But that's only half the fun: in a performance that confirms Mother Nature as the planet's true environmental Magic Maker, these microbes excrete oxygen, amino acids, antioxidants and other substances that enhance life.

Green Peace loves you Baby!

Now watch this...

The other members of the group are aerobic (oxygen loving) bacteria. Check out this teamwork. The aerobic bacteria consume the oxygen generated by the phototropic bacteria. They in turn give off, that's right...carbon dioxide, food for the phototropic bacteria - which they readily consume. And so you have this revolutionary relationship - this symbiotic union of beneficial bacteria - that, like an organic PacMan, goes charging through the environment in which it finds itself, devouring toxins and pollutants and giving off amino acids, vitamins, trace minerals, enzymes and antioxidants.

Think about a team of microbes that are: 1) thriving on toxins and polluting elements in your digestive track; 2) generating antioxidants and other healthy by-products while doing so and 3) overcoming pathogenic (bad) bugs all at the same time.

Who'd have thought...ancient, toxin-eating microorganisms and their organic by-products bringing life-enhancing benefits to people in the 21st century. Something kind of cool about that.

Contaminated Tap Water - 7 Important Facts That Everyone Needs to Know

Contaminated tap water is a hot topic these days. My wish is that you take the time to view the facts in this article and give them a little consideration. Contaminated tap water does affect your health however, view the facts first and then take some action to protect yourself and your family. Once you have read all the facts you'll know what to do.

1) There has been a tremendous increase in the number cases of degenerative disease due to contaminated tap water. Low levels of SOC's (synthetic organic chemicals) are a major contributor. There are many reasons our water becomes polluted such as improper
disposal of common chemicals used in our homes to farm runoff as well as a whole host of other reasons.

2) Before we started using chlorine in our water as a disinfectant in the early nineteenth century the average American had about a 2% chance of getting some sort of cancer. Since we started use herbicides, pesticides, and many other chemicals that people are exposed to on a daily basis that figure has figure has risen to 33% for everyone, and about 50% for men.

3) Almost every country in the world shows traces of SOC's in its tap water. In one of the biggest studies ever done the Ralph Nader Study Group reviewed nearly 10,000 official documents and discovered that there are more than two thousand one hundred toxic chemicals that are cancer causes in our tap water.

4) Studies have shown that almost any chemical used by humans will at some point end up in our supply of water. Because there is no new water (mother earth uses the same water over and over) and as the use of chemicals increases to contamination of our water becomes even more toxic.

5) The infrastructure of our drinking water facilities is becoming outdated. They are unable to keep up with new forms of chemicals and microorganisms and were never intended to deal with the chemicals they are now faced with.

6) The regulations for the safety of our tap water are based on people ingesting only one chemical in their tap water, and it is also based on a 175 pound adult. It does not take into consideration the combined toxicity of more than 2 chemicals.

7) This is really bad news for babies and small children. The systems of babies and small children that help filter out toxins are not fully developed. Because they take in more water on a pound for pound basis the toxins do more damage. Is there any wonder why cases of childhood asthma, cancer, leukemia and immune disorders have all risen in the last decade?

- The Simple Solution -

Now that you know the facts about contaminated tap water you may see the need for using water filtration product. A good quality water filter offers the best method of protecting your health. Look for a quality water filter that uses a combination of carbon filtration, ion exchange and sub micron filtration. This is the best type of water filter you can buy. They are not very expensive if you buy direct from the manufacturer and well worth the money you invest in it.

Visit http://www.BestH2oFilter.com for more information on contaminated tap water and where to buy MANAFACTURER DIRECT TOP RATED WATER FILTERS using the technology mentioned in this article. Expert author Steve Waters has done extensive research on water filtration to save you time and money.

Pull Back Or Leap Forward?

Looking back, about a year after first writing about Commanders of Change™ as a progressive new breed of doctors, little did I realize how prophetic it would be. The doctors in private practice we see doing the best even in this brave new world are commanding their own change, and reinventing themselves, and their practices. Despite the outside world. They have indeed learned to Practice by Design ™.

Those having extraordinary difficulty in private practice are instead practicing by default.

Its no secret, things are very different in your patient's lives now too. More than just an election year uncertainty. Entire pillars of American society are shifting very, very quickly.

So, here's the simple choice. Learn new systems, grow, and become more patient-centric while reinventing your practice, yourself and your future.

Or, do nothing, and wish things were like they used to be. Either way, recognize it is a choice that will have profound consequences on the rest of your life.

I am not saying it's easy. If it were, all doctors in private practice would easily gross six and seven figure incomes. For some of us, it's the most difficult issue in life right now.

I do however speak from experience when I tell you that the direction you take now, because it is such a pivotal time can mean dominating your given market area, building a powerful, profitable practice knowing you are fulfilling your professional destiny, and having that extra income committed to permanent interest bearing investments that can give you a lifetime of freedom.

Or, failing to act decisively, quickly, while gathering all the tools and information you must have regardless of who or what tries to dissuade you can mean closing your doors. It's this simple.

Do you hang around with naysayers or dwell upon how tough things are while distressing about loss of income and your investments?

It's your choice.

Or, have you instead asked for help where you need it, moved forward with a clear vision of the future instead of regrets about the past.

While you are reviewing or reformulating your game plan, here are some of the critical areas that need special attention.

First, are you and your entire team communicating the true value, the most meaningful benefits about what you do, and simultaneously making it easy for those who want more of what you have to offer raise their hands and buy more?

Do you talk only about pain, covered visits, or 'Longer, healthier life with the energy and physical capacity to engage your passions to their fullest'? Do you teach them how to be continuously "Looking and feeling spectacular?" And "Having more energy than people 10-15 years younger'?

Because doctor, this is exactly what your care does for people.

If you are not currently fully engaged along these lines, this is where I advocate you spend lots of time investigating how the practice development programs we have developed for you can best be deployed to make all this your reality too.

Always remember, these are the patients that tell everyone about their doctors. And gladly pay for everything you do. And come back year after year with their kids and grandkids.

Next, is your team crisp, efficient, friendly and understanding? Do they go out of their way to make the office a place people love to come to, and tell everyone they know? Do they also fully support you or stress you out way too much? This also, is a choice. Your choice.

As a vital referral driving and expanded patient care network, what is the quality of your healthcare professional relationships? Have you aligned yourself with like-minded MDs, DMDs, DPMs, etc? Do they refer easily back to you in complete confidence? Do you work to continue to help them as well as their patients?

Most importantly, do you have a clear vision, and a step-by-step game plan to make this all a reality?

Not too long ago, I wrote how to develop a step-by step implementation game plan. If you are having difficulty with any of these critical areas instead of going into overwhelm dedicate some quiet time, a day or two out of the office if need be, use the simple system I developed for you and just get it done.

And remember, this is where good coaching and modern tools and systems are priceless.

I look forward to hearing your success story!

Learn About What is in Tap Water and Protect Your Health

Here, you can learn about what is in tap water This is important, because we buy far too many bottled beverages and should be drinking clean and pure water. But, the purity of tap water is always a major concern.

Did you know that all bottled waters are either heavily treated groundwater or municipally supplied and run through a reverse osmosis filter? Did you know that companies like Coke and Pepsi are literally reselling YOUR tap-water to you?

If you are drinking Dasani or Aquafina, because you are worried about what is in tap water don't bother. The chemicals that are in publicly treated supplies are not removed through their reverse osmosis filters and they don't take additional steps to remove them.

The purity of tap water is unquestionable when you have an effective point-of-use or home filtration system. You don't have to spend a lot of money. You simply have to shop for quality and compare product performance data. The details speak for themselves.

What affects the purity of tap water today, includes chlorine, parasitic cysts resistant to chlorination and other public disinfection methods, traces of lead and other metals, but the biggest long-term health threat is the constant exposure to thousands of chemical toxins and carcinogens.

We are exposed to these chemicals in many ways throughout the day. Efforts are being made to prevent some of them from being used in beverage containers, food wrappers and cosmetics, but they take so long to break down in the environment, that our water will always be contaminated with them.

As governments around the world put tighter controls on industrial pollutants, the levels may decrease in a hundred years or so. But, right now, we have to worry about what is in tap water and make every effort to protect ourselves.

To insure the purity of tap water in your home, you don't need an expensive reverse osmosis step, regardless of the advertising hype. The brands to avoid include Ever-Pure, GE and Amway, because they are overpriced. Other brands, including Brita, PUR, Clean & Pure, Kenmore and Aqua-Pure should be avoided, because they do not provide effective contaminant removal.

Remember what is in tap water when you go shopping. You need submicron filtration to remove cysts. You need granular carbon and a multi-media filter to remove all of the chemical toxins and carcinogens, including chlorine. You need ion exchange to remove lead and other metallic traces.

Ion exchange does a great deal to insure the purity of tap water and to provide the best tasting, healthiest beverage that money can buy. But, you only have to pay about a dime per gallon. Reverse Osmosis Filtration is Not the Best Buy For Homeowners, Today

While reverse osmosis filtration is the method of choice for large-scale treatment facilities and the bottled water industry, it should not be the method of choice for homeowners, despite what manufacturers like GE and Ever-Pure would have you believe. Let's look at a few honest questions and answers.

Is Reverse Osmosis Water Good for Your Health?

Home reverse osmosis filtration began during a time when the major contaminants that people had to deal with were naturally occurring substances. Most of them were removed through the system and people enjoyed better health by not ingesting things like lead, mercury and arsenic that had tainted their wells.

Today, the biggest issues that we have to deal with are synthetic and organic chemical contaminants, which are not removed through RO. Lead is still a problem in some areas, due to aging pipes. Lead is only reduced somewhat, through RO.

Homeowners with private wells should have testing completed and choose a system based on the contaminants present. RO is not the only option, today. Homeowners serviced by a public supplier do not need RO, plain and simple.

Is Reverse Osmosis Water Good to Drink, in terms of Taste?

No. The taste is stale or tasteless due to the absence of naturally occurring minerals. While, bad tasting chemical contaminants, such as chlorine, will still be present, ruining the taste.

Is Reverse Osmosis Water Good for the Environment?

Because it requires the use of more electrical energy and creates gallons of wastewater, osmosis filtration is not an environmentally friendly choice.

Is Reverse Osmosis Water Good for Your Pocketbook?

Home purifiers, including reverse osmosis filtration, cost more to purchase, more to maintain and increase energy consumption. So, no, they are not good for your family's budget. There are more effective, less expensive options.

Is Reverse Osmosis Water Good, Overall?

No. The best choice for homeowners serviced by a public supplier is multi-stage selective purification. These systems are advanced enough to remove more than 99% of any traces of lead, copper and other metals, chemical contaminants, such as chlorine and its cancer-causing byproducts and parasitic cysts, without reducing the natural mineral content.

Some of the cheaper systems on the market (PUR and Brita, for example) only include single stage granular activated carbon, so they will not remove many of the cancer-causing chemicals that are present. Read product performance data before you buy. You may think you are getting a good deal, when in fact you are not fully protecting your health.

In terms of taste, healthfulness and affordability, selective purification cannot be beat. It is naturally occurring minerals that give water a fresh taste. When selective filters identify traces of lead and other metals, they are exchanged for healthy potassium and sodium ions, through a process called "ion exchange".

You can buy a selective system for the kitchen tap for around a hundred dollars. Effective systems that include reverse osmosis filtration cost closer to "eight" hundred dollars. What sounds like the best buy, to you?

FAQ - How Dangerous is Tap Water For Showering?

People ask, "How dangerous is tap water for showering?" I have another question for you. How much danger/risk are you willing to take with your life?

Sure, you may bravely face danger, when it comes to hiking, mountain climbing, boating and sky diving or other risky hobbies. But, if you are like me, you avoid unnecessary risks.

I love to fly, hike and swim in the ocean. Some people are afraid the plane will crash; they'll be mauled by a bear or eaten by a shark. I feel the benefits, enjoyment, that I get from my past-time activities are worth the risk. But, I do not want to cancer.

How dangerous is tap water for showering, when it comes to increased cancer risk? The jury is still out, when it comes to estimated percentages. However, there is no doubt that carcinogens are released into the air of your home, each time that you shower in unfiltered water.

Cancer would greatly interfere with my lifestyle, to say the least. Yours too, I'm sure. There are a growing number of experts that believe the "cancer-epidemic" has been caused by our exposure to environmental toxins and that we should avoid them whenever possible.

Some toxins are unavoidable, unless you completely stop buying processed and packaged foods and beverages. You'd even have to stop breathing most outdoor air. You'd have to stop using many of your health and beauty aids. There are so many toxins in the environment and so many different ways that we are exposed. You cannot possibly control them all.

But, you can easily afford an effective shower filter that will remove the most hazardous compounds. Primarily, we are talking about THMs.

How dangerous is tap water for showering, when it comes to THMs? THMs or trihalomethanes become gases during a hot shower. They float around in the water that you drink. If you regularly swim in chlorinated pools, you are absorbing them through your skin.

You see, THMs are byproducts of the chlorination process. Researchers sometimes refer to them as DBPs or disinfection byproducts. At one time, it was said that their presence in tap-water was harmless. Numerous research reports to the contrary have now been released.

There is no doubt that drinking water contaminated with THMs increases your risk of bladder and colorectal cancer by about 40%. Every source of exposure increases that risk. What's the exact risk from all sources of exposure? I cannot give you a scientific answer to that question, but it would seem to me that the risk is great. Just one more question, before I go.

How dangerous is tap water for showering, if you are already in poor health? If you suffer from asthma, allergies, sinusitis, other respiratory conditions, skin problems, eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis...your condition is being aggravated by continuing to shower in unfiltered water.

Buy a shower filter, as soon as possible. Just make sure to get one that removes chlorine AND THMs. Then you won't have to wonder, "How dangerous is tap water for showering?" The point will be moot.

The Chemicals in Tap Water Increase Your Cancer Risk, But Buying Bottled is Not a Good Alternative

It's true. The chemicals in tap water increase your cancer risk, but drinking only bottled is not a solution. Depending on the brand, you may as well drink tap water In fact, sometimes tap-water is the safer option.

The safest option of all is to buy a home purifier. The technology available for your home is a vast improvement over the purification methods used by public treatment facilities or bottling companies, mostly, because you are treating "less" water.

In order to completely remove all of the known chemicals in tap water your public provider would have to reduce the flow to a trickle. It would be impossible for them to service all of the homes in your community, at the same time.

Bottling companies could not meet their production quotas and provide the safest beverages. For large scale operations, the purification method of choice (if you can call it that) is reverse osmosis. But, if you drink tap water that has been run through a reverse osmosis system, you are still drinking chemical contaminants. Reverse osmosis does not remove them.

When you buy a brand like Dasani, Aquafina or Pure-Life, you are about to drink tap water that has been run through a reverse osmosis system. Those companies, as well as 25% of the other bottlers, use publicly treated sources and further reduce contaminants through the use of reverse osmosis.

But, as I mentioned reverse osmosis does nothing about the chemicals in tap water It was never designed to. It was originally designed for de-mineralization.

Many industries need to reduce the content of naturally occurring minerals, like calcium, in order to prevent excessive corrosion of machinery, to reduce the water's ability to carry an electric charge or for other reasons. Naturally occurring minerals do not corrode our internal workings. In fact, we need them for good health.

There are many environmental concerns revolving around all of those bottles of water that people are drinking every day. There's the overuse of natural resources (water, electricity and oil). There's the added pollution from those plastic bottles, 75% of which end up in a landfill. But, there are individual economic and safety considerations, as well.

If you drink tap water that has been run through a selective home filtration device that includes carbon, a multi-media block with a sub-micron porous structure and ion exchange, more than 99% of all the common chemical contaminants, as well as the traces of metals, prescription drugs and parasitic cysts will be removed. But, naturally occurring minerals are allowed to "pass" through. The system even enhances the mineral content, to a certain degree.

The chemicals in tap water increase your cancer risk, but those same chemicals are present in the majority of bottled brands. Environmentalists would like you to drink tap water more often. You can save thousands of dollars per year by installing a home purification system to remove the chemicals in tap water instead of buying bottled. If you're not convinced, there are more reasons, so, keep learning.

Weight Loss Program That Work

If you are overweight then finding an easy weight loss program that suits you is probably high on your agenda; do not dismiss professional advice because it is surprising just how much help your doctor can be with information on systems that do work. Apart from the medical issues that surround obesity, feelings of self-worth can be damaged as well as an inability to carry out even basic physical activities if you are overweight.

How difficult or easy your weight loss program is will depend on how much you apply yourself to shedding those extra pounds. Before you decide on how you intend to lose weight you need to decide if it is for your benefit; i.e. to remain healthy, or is it because someone else wants you to lose weight.

Many factors affect how well your weight loss program will go including how much physical activity you have during a normal day, the type of food you eat, how many meals you have and when those meals are eaten. Some people are of the opinion that losing weight quickly is the best way but this often causes other medical problems like heartburn or even anemia and creates unrealistic targets.

To keep it simple, consider that a pound in weight is generally believed to be 3,500 calories and then it's easy to break down into daily reductions of 500 calories, meaning you can lose a pound in weight each week. Eating is a complex issue and although we all eat to many foods that have no health benefits, in fact quite the opposite, it is not a good idea to cut out every type of food we enjoy.

Stress can be a large determining factor in how much food is consumed and many women will eat more because they feel low or insecure and when they put on weight they feel worse which continues the cycle. It is nonsense to believe that continued eating and weight gain will not have serious consequences to your health as we now see in the increase of conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart conditions and cancer. Part of the reason for weight gain is psychological and therefore this must be addressed along with any easy weight loss diet that is being used.

Studies have shown that people who have started weight loss programs with a light-hearted determination are more likely to accomplish the looked-for results. A positive attitude and open mind are very often the keys to improving life style and eliminating the bad habits. Losing weight is known to provide us with more energy and allows us to carry out tasks that those extra pounds do not permit, which can all lead to improved self confidence.

Losing weight is all about how you feel about yourself but once you start an easy weight loss program and feel physically better it makes continuing this lifestyle change easier.

Grey Hair – Causes And Home Remedies

Graying of hair is not an unusual thing to happen. The age when graying starts depends on one's genetic inheritance.

Aging is often a reason that causes the hair to turn grayish. But premature graying of hair is a condition that demands the need to pay attention to the root cause. Nonetheless, graying of hair is a normal part of the aging process unless there is an underlying medical condition that is causing the lack of pigmentation.

Symptoms

Loss of hair colour before the age of 35 is termed premature greying. In turn, the thinner, grey hairs then have a chance to grow sooner and more rapidly than normal. The transformation is quick but it is not.

Causes of Greying of hair

Persons suffering from chronic cold and sinusitis and those who use warm water for washing their hair are more likely to be victims of this condition. A faulty diet and mental worries are the two primary causes of premature greying of hair. Lack of some of the B vitamins, iron, copper, and iodine in the daily diet is said to be a contributory factor. The common factor remains that grey hair has some pigment left in it, but not the amount it had when it was the natural color
Other causes of premature greying of hair are an unclean condition of the scalp, washing the hair with hot water, drying it with an electric dryer, and use of hair dyes. Heredity is also a predisposing factor.

Home Remedies

Amaranth is another effective home remedy for hair disorders. Application of the fresh juice of the leaves of this vegetable helps the hair to retain its black color and prevents it from premature graying. It also helps the growth of the hair and keeps it soft.

Premature Greying of Hair treatment using Indian Gooseberry. The use of Indian gooseberry is the foremost among the home remedies found beneficial in the prevention and treatment of premature greying of hair. This is a valuable hair tonic for enriching hair growth and hair pigmentation.

Amla Hair Oil: Amla hair oil can be made at home itself, by adding fresh juice of Indian gooseberries to pure coconut oil. This should be boiled till the Amla juice is completely absorbed in the oil. This oil should be applied after the above said massage.

Liberal intake of curry leaves is considered beneficial in preventing premature graying of hair. These leaves have the property of providing vitality and strength to hair roots. New hair roots that grow are healthier and contain a normal pigment. The leaves can be used in the form of chutney, or may be squeezed in buttermilk. When the leaves are boiled in coconut oil, the oil forms an excellent hair tonic to stimulate hair growth and bring back hair pigmentation.

The role of proper diet in preventing and arresting premature graying of hair is very important. Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables is absolutely essential to facilitate the supply of essential vitamins and minerals.

Homeopathic Remedies - Could They Be An Option For You?

Philosophy of Homeopathic Remedies

Our human body has the capacity to heal itself. The main principal of Homeopathy is "Like may be cured by like." These all natural remedies that are derived from ingredients such as plant, mineral or animal kingdom are used in low dose amounts to combat common ailments such as stomach ache, cough, diarrhea and Flu like symptoms as well as other medical conditions like High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol levels, menstrual and menopausal symptoms. The list of ailments that can be trusted by alternative medicine is endless.

Homeopathy's roots began with the teachings of a German physician named Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. (1755- 1843) Most of the remedies produced today, still ad hear to the same dilution principals used by Dr. Hahnemann. As with conventional prescription drugs these remedies can be taken in the same way - orally, topically or injected. The upside to taking Homeopathic medicine is that there are no adverse reactions like chemically produced prescription drugs. You may often experience a "healing aggravation" which can be explained as a temporary accentuation of your symptoms. This is a sure sign that the remedy taken is working.

Practice of Homeopathic Medicine

All medical doctors can practice alternative medicine. However, please note that there is no specific diploma or certification from any school that gives license to practice Homeopathy in the United States. However, there is the "American Board of Homeotherapeutics that will certify a doctor with a "Diplomate of Homeopathy" award. There must be continuing Education to receive this award. There is a list of beginner, intermediate and advanced Homeopathic training programs that give accreditation. Many Homeopaths are also dentist, veterinarians, nutritionists, osteopaths, chiropractors and pediatricians.

The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has recognized homeopathic medicines since 1938. Homeopathic remedies are classified by the FDA as prescription or non-prescription, (over the counter) depending upon the strength and amount of remedy taken.

Holistic healing and alternative medicine enjoyed a resurgence in the United States. People are wanting to take charge of their health care and are becoming willing participants in their own testament decisions. The type of Homeopathic therapies is staggering that is why it is so important to keep informed on the available remedies and cures offered in this fast paced field. It is up to you to find Homeopathic answers to true health and make informed decisions on your own course of treatment. The first step would be to find a Certified Homeopathic doctor in your area. A great source of information that I would recommend is the National Center for Homeopathy website. Also, you could visit the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine site as well.

I hope this article has enlightened you to another source of alternative treatment besides the conventional pharmaceutical drugs that are so widely used by doctors and hospitals today.

We are all born of nature and it is to nature that we should turn when seeking the answers to our health and healing.

The Lowdown On Laser Hair Removal

‘They’ say, as we get old, three things will continue to grow: our nose, ears and hair. While we may not be able to do much about our nose and ears, modern laser technology is vastly improving out chances of at least getting rid of unwanted hair.

What is a laser?
A laser is an intense beam of light. The energy created by the light, when used at different wavelengths, can target various structures of the skin. In the case of hair removal, the light is concentrated on the pigment of the hair follicle, and does not cause any damage to other parts of the skin.

Types of lasers
Today, the manufacturing of lasers has boomed, and it is worthwhile looking into the machine that your practitioner will use before your treatment, both for reasons of compatibility with your skin and hair type, and the quality of the machine itself.

For instance, the Ruby Laser is one of the oldest types of lasers, and is really only effective for fine, light coloured hair in small amounts. The Alexandrite Laser is becoming more popular because of its large size, making it far more effective for treating large areas, such as backs and legs, but again, it is really better for people with light to olive skin.

For those with darker complexions or tans, the Diode Laser is more effective, but doesn’t work so well on people with fair hair. It has a fast repetitious rate, though, making treatments for large body areas quicker.

The one laser that is good for all skin types is the Nd:Yag laser, which is both fast and has a large coverage area. The downside to this laser is that more people have reported discomfort during treatment, and for people with finer, lighter hair, it can be less effective.

A device similar to a laser, but is not categorised as one, is the Intense Pulsed Light Device. However, these are reportedly much more difficult to use than normal lasers, and require a very skilled hand to operate them.

How lasers work
Hair grows in three cycles: dormant, growing and resting. The laser only effective works on hairs that are in the growth stage. For this reason, laser hair removal will not get rid of all the hair in one go. Although some lasers, such as the Alexandrite, are approved as permanent hair removal systems, the truth is that no laser will remove 100 percent of unwanted hair.

Does it hurt?
The level of discomfort felt depends on both the type of machine used and the client’s own pain tolerance level. Most people endure the procedure with only mild discomfort, but other will require a topical anaesthetic. Some people describe the sensation as a slight stinging, while others say it feels like a rubber band being snapped across their skin.

There can be some redness or slight swelling afterwards, but this should settle in a short time. For most people, four to six treatments are recommended at various intervals, to cover the hair in its various stages of growth. Many people are happy after three of four treatments. In some cases, a return trip after six months may be necessary.

The cost
Laser hair removal can be expensive, but of course, this should be weighed against the cost of ongoing waxing or electrolysis. In the end, although pricey up front, it may end up much more economical in the long term, not to mention more convenient.

Shopping around for both the right machine and right price for you is a good idea. Some clinics charge a flat fee, while others will charge in 5 or 15-minute block intervals. Depending on the size of the area and the amount of hair, some clinics may be willing to negotiate a fee with you, or provide a discount for a group of treatments paid up front.

Easy Tips To Make Your Own Home Treatments For Acne

Acne is a skin disease that can affect the face, the chest, the back, and other upper body parts of any individual. Many people suffer from acne, but most individuals who have acne are adolescents or teenagers. This is mainly caused by a reaction from the hormonal changes that adolescents experience during puberty.

Whether you are a teenager or an adult, surely nobody enjoys dealing with acne blemishes and breakouts. Perhaps you have spent lots of money to purchase over the counter remedies that seemed to take more dollars from your wallet then pimples from your face. Maybe you have consulted with a dermatologist, but are not happy with the prescribed medications that have been suggested. If you are not happy with prescribed acne treatments or the price of over the counter acne medications, then you might be interested in home treatments for acne. You need to remember though that home treatments for acne are better for mild acne, but not for severe cases of acne.

The history of home treatments for acne

Home treatments for acne are not new and they have been around for a long time. In fact, it is high probability that your grandmother had a few remedies and home treatments in her collection of beauty secrets. Long before cosmetics were sold in stores, women found interesting ways to accentuate their beauty with homemade makeup. Women also found many ways to add fragrance to their hair and to treat different skin problems such as dryness, wrinkles, and even acne. If you have light acne, occasional breakouts, or acne prone skin, paying attention to some of grandma's secrets can become a big help in your fight for clear skin.

Common home treatments for acne

One effective home treatment for acne may just be to change the way you live in such a way as to affect the food you eat as well as the way you clean yourself. Eating too much fatty foods can trigger acne outbreaks and not washing your face regularly can block the skin pores which eventually lead to inflamed pores and acne.

Many things in the kitchen have medicinal uses. Something as simple as the oatmeal can actually be used as an acne reducing mask. If you want to try a homemade acne mask, simply combine a half cup of quick cook oats with enough honey to make a pastel. Apply gently to your face and then allow it to dry for about fifteen minutes. Once it has dried, you can remove the mask with a wet wash cloth. As you remove it, you should gently rotate the cloth in tight circles over the surface of your face. This procedure will allow the oatmeal to exfoliate your skin.

Mint also has healing properties and if you dab a little mint oil on an acne blemish, it can help to reduce it quickly. Cider vinegar contains many cleansing properties and it can be used as an astringent. You only need to dampen a cotton ball with a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar and wipe it over your face once or twice a day.

Lemon juice and rose water in equal amounts can serve as a great home treatment for acne. Apply the mixture on the affected area and leave there for half an hour and then wash it off. This method needs to be done for fifteen to twenty consecutive days before you can see the result. Fresh garlic is another home treatment for acne that could work since garlic is a great anti-septic. You only need to rub the pounded garlic cloves on the affected areas. You may feel a slight sting when you use this method.

If you have ever experienced a professional facial, you should know that steam is a relaxing part of the treatment. You can achieve the same effect with a simple home treatment as well. Simply bring and boil a pot of water on your stove and then place the pot on a hot pad on your kitchen table. Place your face over the pot and you should be careful not to burn yourself on its hot edges. In addition, you can drape a towel over your head to catch those cleansing steam vapors and keep them from escaping.

If you want to enhance the experience of this home steam treatment for acne, you can add essential oils or whole herbs to the pot of water when it starts boiling. Mint can break up the dirt and oil in your skin pores and it can do wonders for your sinuses as well. Rose hips are full of vitamin A and it will infuse your skin cells with all sorts of regenerative properties. Lastly, you can even add lavender to help you feel relax. Many dermatologists believe that stress plays a role in making acne breakouts, so adding relaxing lavender to your home steam treatment for acne might help more than you realize.

Want to Get Rid of Dandruff – Beautiful Hair

Dandruff particles are visible flakes of skin that have been continuously shed from the scalp. It is normal to shed some dead skin flakes as the skin is constantly renewing itself. The new cells form in the lower layers. They are gradually pushed to the surface as more new cells form beneath them. By the time they reach the surface, the cells have become flat and overlap each other like roof tiles. By then, these cells are dead and are shed from the surface all the time. They are so small that we do not notice this is happening.

If you are suffering with dandruff, then you have a fungus. Naturally, this is not a pleasant thought. But when it comes to fungi, scalp involvement is certainly not as serious as fungus in other areas like on the feet or under the nails. And, scalp fungus is not the same beast as fungi usually attacking other body areas. It’s much easier to keep scalp fungus in check and under wraps than to try to wear sandals when sporting yellow misshapen toe nails.

Causes of Dandruff:

The basic causes of dandruff are faulty diet, emotional tension and stress, hormonal distrubances, infection due to disease, injury to the scalp and unwise or excessive use of hair cosmetics and dry weather.
The reason why so many adolescents have dandruff is that this is the time when they secrete an excess of androgen hormones which cause sebum, the skin oil.

Home Remedies to Treat Dandruff:

Avoid the use of soaps, chemical shampoos, greasy creams, other hair products containing chemicals. Avoid hair treatments like bleaching, perming, and excessive use of hair dryers.

Wash your hair every time you wash it with baking soda only. At first your hair will look much worse, and the flakes will too. Your hair will be dry and probably stringy - do this for about 3 weeks. That gives your scalp a chance to build up it's natural oils and by then the flakes should be gone.

Do not scratch your scalp. dandruff sufferers who scratch, using an electron microscope that magnifies 400 times.

Positive changes in eating habits and lifestyle amount to hitting the problem at the grassroot level. Avoid heavy fatty foods like cheese, redmeats, dairy products, sugars, chocolates, nuts and seafood. It can sometimes be aggravated by allergies or particular foods that stress the liver. Diet should consist of 50-70 per cent raw foods and lots of water to detoxify the system.

If possible, try to shampoo on a daily basis to prevent bacterial propagation. One effective means of dealing with dandruff is to disinfect the scalp area with commercially available medicated shampoos specifically designed for dandruff removal. However, daily shampooing can lead to eczema for persons who suffer from dry scalps. Shampooing once every three days may be ideal for such persons. Persons who suffer from persistent, hard-to-cure dandruff are urged to consult a skin specialist

Make a paste with a teaspoon of dried amla powder, 1 teaspoon of dried neem leaves powder one egg and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply one hour hefore bath wash with cold water can be done twice a week.

Hair Loss Causes With Its Treatment

Hair loss usually occurs because of hormonal factors. As a consequence, biological events like puberty, pregnancy and menopause that effect female hormone levels can also cause female hair loss. In the case of pregnancy, hair loss is simply a consequence of the stress the body undergoes during labor and should stop approximately 6 months after birth.

Discontinuation of taking birth control pills can also cause temporary female hair loss.

The cause of female baldness is not just limited to menopause. Some women begin to see their hair thinning as early as puberty. This typically results from a hormonal imbalance. A change in hormones can often lead to female baldness. A hormone evaluation can tell you if hormones are the cause.

What can cause this hormonal imbalance? Most commonly oral contraceptives, PCOS, menopause and pregnancy (post natal stages) can. All of these directly affect the hormone balance within a womans body and can lead to partial or dramatic thinning or loss of hair. Your doctor is the best person to speak to for advice on this especially in relation to PCOS, menopause or oral contraception.

Causes of Hair Loss:

Medication or drugs - the contraceptive pill, blood thinning or blood pressure medication, thyroid hormones, cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, coricosteroids, high dosage vitamin A, amphetamines, cocaine drugs. (Please note that hair loss does not necessarily occur with these medications).

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is an immune disease that affects almost 2% of the population in the US. This type of hair loss appears in various degrees of severity from small, round patches of hair loss that regrow without medical treatment to chronic, extensive hair loss that can involve the loss of all hair on the scalp or body hair. This type of hair loss affects both genders equally and can occur at any age, although it occurs most often in children and young adults.

Physical trauma - scarring, childbirth, burns, accidents, general anaesthesia, surgery.
Some common myths related to female hair loss are that frequent washing and shampooing, and wearing of wigs and hats all cause hair loss. In addition, rumors abound that permanents, coloring, and other cosmetic treatments can cause permanent hair loss. Other myths are that brushing your hair everyday will create healthier hair, that shaving your head will cause hair to grow back thicker, and that stress causes permanent hair loss.

Stress is a major reason why you can experience hair loss. Therefore, start reducing the extra stress at once by taking some time out of your daily schedule to relax. Also get enough sleep. You can also start supplementing your diet with a good hair loss nutritional supplement.
The most important thing to remember is to try to remain positive throughout the treatments. It may take as long as a year to begin seeing results from any form of female hair loss treatment. Start by going to a doctor, and just remember, almost everyone is affected by hair loss at some point in their life.

Rogaine is the only medication approved by the FDA to treat female hair loss. Rogaine is packaged separately for women, in a solution of 2% minoxidil. Many physicians suggest not using Rogaine while pregnant or breastfeeding. Side effects can include scalp irritation and more serious, but rare side effects if too much of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. Talk to your doctor before starting any treatment.

Feline Acne – Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Feline acne is a common problem seen in cats. It is found on the cat's chin & lips. It is generally accepted that this is caused by plastic bowls and for many cats the solution is simply substituting the plastic bowl for a stainless steel bowl or a glass bowl. The problem may be caused by the inability of the cat to clean his chin properly after drinking the milk resulting in a nutrient rich habitat for bacteria. Several factors appear to be associated with its development including stress, a suppressed immune system, poor grooming habits, the presence of other diseases, contact or atopic dermatitis, and skin conditions in which abnormal amounts of oils are produced.

Causes

The exact cause of feline acne is not known, but several factors appear to be associated with its development including stress, a suppressed immune system, poor grooming habits, the presence of other diseases, contact or atopic dermatitis, and skin conditions in which abnormal amounts of oils are produced and the hair follicles do not function properly.

Dirt - Cats generally have trouble grooming the chin area and because of this, dirt and oil tend to accumulate in this particular area of the face. The accumulation of bacteria causes hair follicles to be infected and eventually, acne breaks out.
Food Allergies - In spite of what you see in cartoons, cats do not possess the same diet that humans have. So don't feed your cat human food. It's important that you give your pet the food he truly needs.

Signs of Feline Acne:

Various signs of feline acne can be seen on the chin of the cat and they are:-
· Hair loss, draining tracts and swelling develops on the chin in case of severe feline acne.
· Multiple comedones develop on the lips and chin of the cats which looks like dirty. These comedones appear as small abscesses which remain open and form the crusts.
· It can be itchy.
· Secondary bacterial infections can develop.

Feline Acne Treatment:

Sometimes, supplementation with fatty acids is beneficial in this type of treatment. Retin-A can be used but it can be applied very rare as it can leads to irritation. Oral retinoid therapy and teratogenic can be given to treat the feline acne in cats. Any underlying conditions such as ringworm, a Demodex infestation, or a yeast infection should be treated appropriately.

Investigating the cause of the acne is also recommended. Acne can arise because of an allergic reaction to plastic food bowls, developing because of bacteria and dirt that can build up within scratches on the surface of the dish. Switching to ceramic, glass or stainless steel dishes may clear up acne for some cats, and washing the cat’s dishes every day can keep them clean and safe to use. Persians and other cats with flat faces seem to be more prone to feline acne, and cleaning their chins after they eat may help prevent skin problems.

Back Acne Treatment and Prevention Tips

1. Wash the back with an anti-bacterial cleanser formulated for the face.

2. Use a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide treatment for back acne.

3. Wear cotton clothing and use powder to keep your back dry.

4. Always wear clean clothes, bras and T-shirts when working out.

Obesity is seldom thought to be a disease. It is generally taken as just an unhealthy physical condition. Needless to say obesity is much more than that. It’s much more in magnitude as a disease. Obesity along with overweight is also the cause of many other diseases. In one word obesity can really be killing along with being extremely unpleasant. Obesity is slowly but steadily taking its grip on the population of the world.

The youth today is falling prey to this dangerous condition. This would make the coming generations of the world quite vulnerable and unhealthy. In fact the trend has already started. It is unbelievable that even in the richest country of the world that is the USA obesity is having a wonderful run. The US is a favorite victim of this deadly illness. Interestingly US is among the countries that hold the largest number of obese people in the world. Obesity leads to a number of conditions that ultimately lead to terrible health related disorders including death. Still the Americans are seen to be turning a deaf ear to the dictums that go on and on about shedding the junk food for fruits and vegetables. The calories are piling on and are in turn turning into deadly health disorders.

People dying of obesity induced diseases in the US alone borders around the 300,000 million every year. Surprisingly, the Americans inspite of being educated and literate are not doing much towards defeating this trouble maker. It’s only the related authorities and the health organizations who are putting in their energies for saving the nation from falling defenseless to obesity. Now there are new proposals towards making obesity a public health issue. Not only this, obesity and overweight have been made the primary concerns of the public health department. To the horror of the health departments of the US, obesity is fast racing towards acquiring the stature of an epidemic. In fact it has almost acquired the coveted position. Now obesity is on its way to add another feather to its cap. There is a serious possibility that obesity might very soon overcome tobacco and become the leading preventable cause of death in the States. Its time the common man of the US woke up to the threats of obesity.

Nothing works better than a balanced diet and physical work out to beat obesity. Unfortunately, there are many people who are reluctant to tread this path and opt for shortcuts like xenical weight loss. Though drugs like xenical online work out for many, still a disciplined way of life can go a long way in giving you a healthy and fit body and mind. Otherwise you can buy xenical online after you have acquired the xenical prescription.

Quit Smoking is the Best Choice for Your Life

There are literally dozens of tips to quit smoking naturally. There are a lot of people who smoke out there who, among other reasons, are afraid to try to quit cigarettes for the fear of what they think is inevitable weight gain. For some time, I have been studying why some people who choose to quit or lose weight succeed and why some of them don't.

Lets take a look at what all of the factors are that cause such weight gain in people who quit smoking and see if maybe this weight gain may be able to be controlled to where it does not have to be a factor when you decide to put the cigarettes down for good. As an ex-smoker and a former fatty, I have found what I believe to be the solution to the problem. It is all to do with the decision. We may decide that we would like to quit smoking or that we would like to lose weight, but have we decided to commit to doing it? Until now, drugs that purport to help you quit smoking have largely ignored the root of the problem Nicotine -- the chemical that keeps you hooked to those insidious packs of cigarettes and unless you rid your body of that nasty chemical as quickly as possible the success of any Smoking Cessation treatment is reduced dramatically.

But the most important thing that you must remember when you want to quit smoking is that any method, whether it is hypnosis methods or any other methods will work only if you have the will power to say no to cigarettes. If you choose cold turkey, you access virtually the only method that is free, and you can do it at any time. When you use cold turkey, you can use the only method that is very low cost or can be totally free and will put money back in your pocket because you are no longer supporting the habit, and you can do it at any time.

The cold turkey method to help you quit smoking is great if you use the aids listed above because those aids will help you if your body starts to go through withdrawal symptoms, which are often associated when you stop smoking. If you use smoking cessation aids like gum or nicotine patches because those aids can help you if you start to go through nicotine withdrawal symptoms, which are often associated when you stop smoking. If you are trying to quit smoking, products such as nicotine gums are often a first choice.

While trying to quit smoking is hard, it is not impossible and there are some very good products, which have high success rates, on the market. He sent me to the hospital for tests and when I went back he dropped the bombshell: It is time that you quit smoking. However, if the smoker makes the right decisions, understands them and can open their eyes to the truth about smoking and their smoking behaviour, it is possible for them to quit.

When the smoker is finally able to quit smoking their trigger spots will still be there. A positive mental attitude to quitting smoking, coupled with a good understanding of why you really smoke will help any smoker quit the habit. Hypnotism is no ‘quick fix’ and many experts advise that it should only be one tool from the toolbox – including diet, exercise and developing a more positive outlook - that a smoker needs to use to quit the habit.

There are many great articles and resources that can help you to quit smoking and to help you I've collected useful articles and essays from all over the Internet to advise, educate, shock and most of all, help you to stop smoking and enjoy your life to the full. Stop smoking is not easy if you don't know how to, but can be done. Quitting smoking is one of the most difficult addiction-breaking processes one can go through.

The Best Veggies For Your Juicer

Most of us know how important raw vegetables are for our health but with today's busy lifestyles it can be difficult to consume enough of them. With the convenience of a juicer at home; however, we can reap all of the health benefits from vegetables while enjoying a quick glass of juice.

It is best to use organically-grown vegetables in order to avoid pesticides and preservatives. Because some nutrients are lost in transit from the farm to the store, try buying locally-grown produce when possible to receive the highest vitamin and mineral content. Many important vitamins and minerals are located in the skin so vegetables should not be peeled before juicing. Here are several nutritious and delicious veggies to try in your juicer.

Carrots

Carrot juice is a fantastic source of vitamin A, which is vital for maintaining the health and proper function of your eyes. Vitamin A also promotes healthy bone growth and the maintenance of healthy body tissues. The amount of carotene, which is converted to vitamin A in the liver, is indicated by the carrot's color. Dark yellow carrots are best for juicing because of their high carotene content. Carrots are also rich in vitamin E, which is great for your skin. Carrot juice supplies the body with many other vitamins and minerals including the B vitamins, calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, chlorine, sulfur, and iron.

Celery

Celery is an excellent source of vitamin C. It is also a very good source of folic acid, potassium, and vitamins B1, B6, and B2. Celery is even a good source of calcium. Celery contains active compounds called pthalides, which have been shown to improve vascular health by relaxing arteries, thereby lowering blood pressure. Pthalides also reduce stress.

Beets

Both the root and leaves of beets are high in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, and C. The leaves are actually more nutritious than the root, but are bitter. The sweet taste of the root is generally preferred in juice, but by mixing the leaves with other vegetables you can gain the nutritional content of the leaves while still creating a sweet juice. Beets are in the same family as spinach and chard and are great blood-cleansing vegetables. The root has a very high concentration of folic acid, which is important for cellular function and repair. Beets are also a great source of high-quality iron.

Cucumbers

Beneficial for both skin and hair, cucumbers contain a large amount of the mineral, silica. Silica strengthens tendons, muscles, and other connective tissue, and is also great for skin elasticity, complexion, and hair loss. Cucumbers contain quite a bit of water and are helpful for hydration. Because many nutrients are located in the skin of the cucumber, be sure to avoid those with a waxy coating, which would need to be peeled.

Spinach

A natural laxative, spinach is another common vegetable for juicing. Due to its high iron and chlorophyll content, spinach juice aids those with anemia. Spinach is also rich in calcium and other alkaline elements, which preserve the alkalinity of the blood. During pregnancy and lactation, spinach juice is valuable because of its high content of folic acid. For those with bleeding gums, spinach juice is known to be helpful.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are useful for liver detoxification because they contain two very important detoxifying trace elements, chlorine and sulfur. Because they are abundant in lycopene, tomatoes reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, including the prevention of hardening of the arteries and high blood pressure. Lycopene is also a potent antioxidant.

Whatever vegetables you choose, you'll be assured a result that far exceeds any store-bought juice. Loaded with essential nutrients, homemade juice is one of the healthiest drinks you'll find. Get a juicer and enjoy a glass of homemade vegetable juice today!

Aromatherapy for Stress

If an individual finds themselves in an anxiety inducing situation or is feeling especially stressful, aromatherapy is a very fast, easy and effective way to alleviate those feelings. Simply inhaling lavender, rose, mandarin, lemon balm or clary sage can almost instantly increase an individuals their sense of calm and decrease their sense of stress. Another effective way to use aromatherapy to lessen stress is to essential oils while getting a massage. Burning an aromatherapy candle provides even more punch. Both are an excellent way to relieve stress by using aromatherapy. Being massaged with essential oils works especially well because one is combining the power of massage therapy with aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is such an effective and powerful way to relieve stress because you don't have to go to a gym, lie down or pop a pill. There are no side effects, (unless you are allergic, perform a spot test so that you are sure) you can take it with you and instantly make yourself feel better. You can carry around a little lavender in your purse, if you are at work, you can use a diffuser. So you can experience the benefits of aromatherapy from anywhere. It can become your traveling stress buster. Aromatherapy works especially well in helping to cheer us up, feel balanced, become more energized and even to calm us.

And while there are certain aromatherapy scents and oils that are known to promote the reduction of stress, it is really best to go with the scent that calms you. If peppermint does it for you, use peppermint, if geranium does it for you, use geranium. In many cases it comes down to a personal preference, and that is just fine. You do not have to use a certain scent just because others tout its properties. Instead you may want to do a little experimentation and see what reacts best with your body to give you the feelings or state of being that you are looking for. To really multiply the power of aromatherapy to relieve stress, you may want to common essential oils or candles with other relaxing activities. For example, taking a hot bath that has drops of essential oils and while burning an aromatherapy candle will exponentially increase the effectiveness of aromatherapy to relieve stress. Remember to play around with various scents. You may even want to combine some scents to get a particular scent that you enjoy or you increase the power of its’ properties. If you are unfamiliar with creating essential oil blends, you could take a course or find some good information at your library or over the internet.

Hairloss Information- Causes of Hairloss

It is normal to lose 50-100 hairs a day, so it is not necessarily a worrying sign to see hairs fall out. There are various possible causes of hair loss, the major ones are; stress, drugs, skin disorders, testosterone, menopause, iron deficiency, genetics and aging

Hair Loss, also referred to as balding, is caused by a variety of factors, the most important being heredity. Hair loss runs in the family and is not curable though someday, gene manipulation may lead scientists to a cure. Men with a genetic predisposition to hair loss have areas on their scalp that are especially sensitive to male sex hormones. As men age, these areas and the hair follicles that reside there suffer from a biological imbalance caused by a male hormone called DHT. Slowly, over a period of years, follicles wither and hair becomes thinner and shorter until it can't be seen at all.

Causes of Hairloss

Cause 1: Genetic Balding

This type of hair loss is inherited through the genetics of genes of one’s mother. With genetic hair loss the reason for balding is not hair falling out but the body’s inability to produce more hair. This is due to the hair follicles going through their normal 25 cycles within a very short time period. This causes the follicles to stop producing hairs much earlier than normal.

Cause 2: Fungal Infection
Fungal infection often causes patchy hair loss, and red scalp, scaling (dandruff) and pus is often seen. This type of infection can be easily treated with a few months' course of anti-fungal agents, used simultaneously with anti-fungal shampoo.

Fungal infections usually affect the skin because they live off keratin, a protein that makes up skin, hair and nails. Fungal skin infections are divided into groups depending on what type of organism is involved. The full name depends on the location of the infection on the body.

Cause 3: Major illness/surgery

About 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Cause 4: Drugs

Moreover, there are many drugs that we take in every day without even suspecting that they can also be responsible for the condition of our hair. Among the drugs that may cause hair loss there are: cholesterol-lowering drugs, Parkinson medications, ulcer drugs, antiarthritics, anticonvulsants for epilepsy, antidepressants, antibiotics and some more.
