When Acne Starts

The problem of acne begins normally at the age of attaining puberty, when our body starts to produce a hormone called androgen. The scientific reason behind this is that, over stimulation and enlargement of the sebaceous glands takes place due to the secretion of androgen in the body. The extra oil from the sebaceous glands mixes with the bacteria and the dead skin cells and blocks the pores. The inflammation is due to the multiplication of bacteria, that causes the spots and the pustules. Acne mainly occurs during the menstrual cycle and during pregnancy. Sometimes over-stress also causes the production of cortisol hormone that causes acnes. However, acnes are genetic in many cases. Unsuitable medication and steroids also causes acnes. In many of the cases, the acne is caused by the use of harsh chemicals on the face, like harsh exfoliates and astringent. Although acne is often seen in those who do regular heavy or oily make-up, it is also caused due to squeezing of whiteheads, blacks and ant other spots in the face that can cause bacterial infections.

Acne appears not only on the face alone, but also on the neck, back and chest areas. Different people are affected by the occurrence of acne in different ways. The occurrence of acne often causes insecurities and depression. There are mainly two types of acne- Acne vulgaris and acne roseaca. There are various types of acne vulgaris. One type of acne vulgaris is blackheads that are caused by partially blocking of pores in the skin. The black appearance is due to the melanin pigment of the skin. Another type of acne vulgaris is the whiteheads; caused by complete blockage of pores. In case of white heads, the bacterium inside the blocked pores turns the sebum to “free fatty acids” that causes the white coloration of the pores. Papules are actually small, red, tender bumps or spots whereas, and pustules are the larger, pus-filled red and inflamed spots. Nodules on the other hand are the larger bumps on the skin surface, similar to nodules are the cysts that are nodules-like but are more affected, inflamed and infected. The situation in acne roseaca is almost similar to acne vulgaris with spots, oily skin and pustules but in acne roseaca, additional problems are the skin flushing and a general redness of the area. The aggravation of the problem occurs due to the over-consumption of spicy foods and alcohol. However, people suffering from acne vulgaris often do not have blackheads or comedones that are common in the case of acne vulgaris.

If acne occurs it is suggested to have a clean from inside by eating healthy food and drinking plenty of water is necessary do practice. Encourage the skin to shed the dead skin cells and keep it bacteria free. Clean your skin with a gentle cleanser that is preferably, ph neutral, perfume free, color free and applicable for sensitive skin. While choosing the products for the acne prone you must avoid those products that contain alcohol, isopropyl mystate, lanolin, sodium laureth sulphate, mineral oils and parabens.
